Hi,

We use a TAG Heuer CP540 for alpine ski racing and have just replaced our old start gate with an ALGE STSnM2S manual FIS start gate.

The gate works correctly with the CP540. When the start wand opens, the contact closes and the CP540 records one start time as expected.

The problem is that the STSnM2S contact remains closed for as long as the start wand is left open. Our starters normally leave the wand open until the next competitor is ready. During this time the CP540 gives the continuous short-circuited input warning/beep.

We would like to keep the normal audible beep when a start impulse is recorded, but avoid the continuous warning while the gate remains open.

Is there a CP540 setting for this type of manual start gate, or a recommended configuration for using an STSnM2S with a CP540?

I know we could use a long lock time or manually block/unblock the input, but I would prefer not to rely on the operator remembering to re-enable the input before the next competitor.

I have also seen some discussion about different CP540 firmware versions. Could the firmware version affect this behaviour?

Thanks in advance!
