Hi All, I've received great advice here before... hoping you guys can help me out on this one!

I've been playing with some D-Line displays that we'll be using for the upcoming Whitewater Slalom race season. The controls and menu are pretty intuitive, and the manual outlines everything well.

I'm trying to connect to the display using an RS232 connection from a PC, but have been unsucessful using both my timing software, and the D-Line configurator.

The cables all work, cables are plugged into the RS232 banana receptacles on the D-Line, COM ports are active and data is being sent... but no communication to the D-Line is being made. The configurator searches active com ports and runs through baud rates, but no communication.

Questions:
-Does the D-Line need to be set to certain setings for even the D-Line configurator software to find it?

-Have any of you out there bee able to set the D-Line to the "PC Communication" mode... "SE P2"?? When we run through the "SE" settings on our D-Lines, that "P" option never appears... which might be why we cannot estabish PC communication, I'm not sure.

-Is there a way to do a master reset of the software on the D-Line? Would this help?

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!

Best,
-Steve

Scoreboards can be so finicky! This reminds me of the problem connecting a Tag timer to a Gaz 4.

You need a different cable. Programming of the D-Line from the configuration software is bi-directional, however the RS232 Banana jacks are only Ground and In (Black/Yellow). To get bi-directional communication you have to use the Amphenol socket make the following connections (page 14 of the manual):

DB9 Pin 2 to Amphenol 3
DB9 Pin 3 to Amphenol E/4
DB9 Pin 5 to Amphenol 2

The D-Line shouldn't need to be in any special mode to do the programming using the configuration software.

Hope this helps,
Jenna

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any response.
I have the same problem: I have to connect Alge D-Line to the PC via RS232 with my program, but I do not know how to do.
I read the manual but I did not understand much, on the internet I found nothing.
Can you help me? perhaps with an example ...
thank you
