Photocell tied to Start clock?

I primarily time a format of off-road motorcycle racing that is basically time trials. We start riders every 15-seconds and use a cheap countdown clock that automatically refreshes. Sometimes riders take off a bit early (which is allowed) so there will be time left on the clock which needs to be manually reset by a timing official.

I'm looking for a solution that would automatically reset a start clock with a photo cell reading. Is this possible?

A bonus would be if the Photo Cells worked as a backup with our MyLaps Orbits timing software.
