The new PR1a photocell was tested at the RMD Speed week events held in Aspen CO this past week. We used in for the close of the Speed Trap for the DH. The TD liked the plastic case with nice round edges for this location. The shot was about 60 meters going from wall to wall on Strawpile in through beam configuration. Alignment was a little tricky with the "hinged posts" as is required under FIS guidelines. For the SG we installed it behind the B net at the top of Aztec. The shot was a little shorter (about 30 meters) but it was going through one layer of net. The Aztec split was flawless but the trap missed a few. It was most likely athletes getting under the beam in their tuck. I liked the 2 - AA batery access, built in sun shield and ability to switch between TX RX and Reflector modes. The form factor is nice too.

This photocell is also the lightest on the market. Notice how CJ Timing www.cjtiming.com is using a 1/4 x 20 thread bracket normally used for TAG cells. They have put a reducer bushing into the PR1a to bring it down to 1/4 x 20. An ALGE RLS1n would have been too heavy to have allowed this type of application. Timing professionals such as CJ Timing can also appreciate that they only need to stock ONE type of cell. The PR1a is triple purpose: Reflector cell on Normal setting Transmitter cell on TX setting Receiver cell on RX setting The FIS finish line configuration uses 4 identical cells with a "SYNC" cable at the transmitter side to complete the set. Smaller and more versatile than any TAG cell on the market. No more need to have HL 2-31 reflector cells, HL 2-35 through beams, etc, etc. The pro carries 5 PR1a cells and 4 reflectors in their finish kit to handle any single or dual course application. http://www.phoenix-sports.com/alge_pr1a.htm Phoenix Sports has shipped over 20 of these cells since their introduction in early December. This message has been edited. We recently received nice feedback on the PR1a being used with a Summit SRT 1000. wintergreen_thank_you_3-09_tg.jpg (29 KB, 79 downloads)

The PR1a cells continue to be the most popular cell design yet on the market. Nastar pacesetting trials are wrapping up and the PR1a cells and TIMY USB connection are quite the hit. Phil_Davenport_of_Windham_installing_PR1a_for_NASTAR_pacesetting.JPG (45 KB, 56 downloads)
