I have recently received two RLS1c's to recondition. Aside from the well known corroded connector and battery holder problems, the internal DC-DC converter (MAX654) doesnot start up repeatedly and reliably on either unit. It appears that one has been replaced sometime in the past. Has this circuit/configuration been
updated? Can you provide a schematic (to save me some time)? I am willing to share my ciruit improvements or change once I better understand the problem. (Remember, I'm doing this in my spare time, so I'm not in a big hurry.)

The RLS series recently underwent an upgrade (summer of 1999) where more surface mount devices were incorporated in the main circuit board design. Fundamentally the design and performance are the same. During the Summer of 1998 the RLS1n was introduced. The major feature is the banana plug sockets and on/off switch for the battery.
