Is it true that FIS does not allow a spring return Start Gate / wand?
Can our Alge start gates be modified to a homologated unit, or will we need new start gates. I am unsure of the model No. of our current Startgates, no markings, inside or out, other that Alge's and Phoenix's brands |

Hi John, No Return!!!!
And We had to get a new one, but not all bad news, for small racers, they can't slip out the side--with out a start!! |

The ALGE MANUAL open start gates in fact have a spring that assists in opening the gate. This is the feature that was observed by Chase in his post. ALGE in fact has two types of manual close start gates. The traditional one with the 5/16 plastic threaded spring loaded stick. There is a new one that has a 3/8 stainless threaded stick with no spring. The traditional gate and stick is fine for most types of racing. The springless stick version was brought out at the end of this past season for upper level races like Norams and so forth where there was a concern that the spring loaded gates did not give the racer enough resistance when they pressed against it prior to start. The manual return gates are completely different internally than the auto return. They have to be exchanged. We of course will offer the highest trade in value we can for customers wishing to trade types.
