Why does the start delay not work on my Alge S4 RS-232 output and printer output, running in the time of day mode?
We use an old Alge start wand that produces a start pulse upon opening and another upon closing when connected to a TagHeuer radio transmitter in a wireless configuration. It does not give double starts when wire is connecting the start with the AlgeS4. I changed the start delay up to 9 seconds and I still get a start upon opening , then closing, and if the starter is really good, we can get some switch bounce to give a half dozen starts. Does my timer need to come back for repair? |

S4 timers set in HP mode (program 3) regard all channels as equal. The DF setting (normally finish only) controls all of the channels. The beep will extend based of the setting as well. You only changed the DS (start) setting that is not active in Program 3. Change the DF to a higher setting and that should solve your problem.

Prog 3 mode, I changed dS 9.0 and dF to 90, which I believe is 9 seconds. The delay start only lasted less than a second. Is the dF units really set for .90 seconds instead of 9.0 seconds? Is there any way to get that delay start longer than a second?

Sure. Press the toggle up when you are in the DF mode. You will see a period appear that will indicate that the value is now 9 seconds instead of 9 10ths.

Think if it this way...
In time of day mode, you only get one start. When you sync. This drove me crazy until Precesion explained it to me. DS is really of no value in Prog 3. Works fine in Prog 0. However, and maybe Fred can confirm, does DF actually work in TOD or PROG 3? |
