The new and improved Alge start wand is not unbreakable! It begins to show fibers where it is glued to the rotating arm. Perhaps in the last 2 years I have put 5000 racers throught it.
I just wrapped fine twine around where it is seperating and coated with some epoxy. It set overnight and is doing well.

Also the new Alge start wand needs a lockwasher and you could some Locktite as well.

Replacements should be available at the start, have plenty of back-ups.

Modifications to any part of a homologated system could question the homolgation. A better solution might be replacement instead of modification.

Of course, this would only apply to races which required use of homologated equipment.
