Just downloaded the latest alpine officials update from the USSA site. (posted on 9/23) It refers to the FIS Timing Booklet being "reviewed, corrected and restructured to: Incorporate requirement for homologation of start gates and photocells (advised for 02-3, madatory for 03-04" and a few other things like a revised timing report form that only requires one form per RACE, rather than one per run.
Anyone seen, A) this new corrected and restructured timing booklet. B) a list of homologated start gates and photocells. C) The new timing report form.

I would plan to attend the timing and scoring workshop being held at Killington on Oct 19. There are several posts from Chase Morsey on this subject on other parts of this forum.

ALGE photocells and start gates have had serial numbers and ID codes since last season in anticipation of the homologation requirements.

You can contact Jordan Ginsberg for a copy of the new timing report form. He will be giving a lecture on it at the clinic.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was away at a horse show (thanks for the use of the daktronics display Fred), and have been swamped since my return.

I have copies of the New Timing booklet which is in the process right now of final approval at the FIS meetings in Europe. It includes information on homologation of photocells and start gates that has been in the works for 1.5 years or more as well as approved installations for complete wireless timing FIS races. Please note, that as these requirements now stand, you will need a minimum of 4 homologated timers.

The new timing form (both USSA and FIS) is basically done. There may be a few minor changes. The form is a simplified two page (front and back) version for each race (one form per race). The mechanics are identical.

For any or all of these documents please e-mail me at jordan@allsportsevents.com

Follow this link to the ALGE website where you can download .pdf files on all of the current (2002-2003 season) rules and booklets. You can also download very nice pictures of typical race setups using ALGE equipment.
