The SEIKO DPU414 is shipped from PST either set for S3, S4, or Data Logging with PC. The settings are almost all the same except the S4 is set for 40 columns of printing and the data logger for 80. The S3 set printer uses 7 stop bits where the S4 and data logger use 8.

The DPU414 uses software programming. There are no switches.

Programming:

1) Hold the "online" button down while turning the printer on. [dip switch setting mode] will print along with all of the settings already programmed.

2)Press the "online" button once to continue (online=ON, feed=OFF) from now on

3) Dip switch #1

1=OFF (feed)

2=On (online)

3=ON

4=on

5=On

6=Off

7=On

8=On

It now asks Continue or Write. Press "on-line" to continue

Dip switch #2

1=ON (40 col.) OFF= (80 col)

2=On

3=On

4=Off

5=ON

6=On

7=ON

8=OFF

It now asks continue? Press "on-line" to continue

Dip switch #3

1=ON (8 bits, S4) OFF=(7 bits, S3)

2=On

3=On

4=On

5=On

6=OFF

7=OFF

8=ON

NOW press the "FEED" switch to SAVE the information. Turn the printer OFF and then On to have the new settings take effect.

Changing baud rates:

The DPU414 can be changed from the default baud rate of 2400 by using the four (4) last settings of dip switch 3

4800 baud

5 (ON) BAUD

6 (OFF) RATE

7 (OFF) SELECT

8 (OFF) 4800

9600 BAUD

5 (OFF) BAUD

6 (ON) RATE

7 (ON) SELECT

8 (ON) 9600

19200 BAUD

5 (OFF) BAUD

6 (ON) RATE

7 (ON) SELECT

8 (OFF) 19200

ALWAYS LABEL THE SELECTION AFTER CHANGING. LOOK AT THE BAUD RATE SETTING FIRST IF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT SEND REAL DATA. IMPROPER RATE WILL PROBABLY NET ??????????? AND OTHER CRAP.
