Please Note

So far this year I have received less that 1/3 of race result packets and even fewer TD Expense Forms for the events which have been held. I need a copy of all results packets and TD Expense Forms for all events held in the USA not matter where the TD is from and for all events in Canada or other out of country events where a USA TD is assigned. Your help would be appreciated

FIS Timing Form Reminder / Race Packets / TD Expense Forms
January 2008
The FIS TTRF ("Timing Technical Report Form") is a required document to
score the race.

On the same level of importance as the Results, Penalty Calculation, TD
Report, the TTRF if absent, wrong or incomplete will cause the race NOT to
be scored.

The current correct version of the document is available in a number of
locations on the web but as is the case with ALL FIS documents the only
TRUSTED source should be:

Download the current TTRF form (version 7.1) at:
ftp://ftp.fisski.ch/Alpine/forms/
or at
http://www.fis-ski.com/uk/disciplines/alpine-skiing-rules/alpine-skiing-rul
es/timing.html

as:

Timing-and-Data-Report-7-1

Available as either a pdf or excel worksheet

Some tips to help fill it out:

Equipment Specs--------------------
Brand, Model, and Homologation # are all listed on the list of FIS approved
(homologated) timing equipment. You need to check that what you are using
corresponds to anything that is on this list. If it's not on the list of
approved equipment YOUR RACE WILL NOT SCORE.

You can find the list here:
http://www.fis-ski.com/data/document/homologated-timing-equipment.pdf

All timers, start gates and photocells MUST correspond to some device on
this list AND have a serial number ON the device you use. This could (and
should) be checked by the FIS TD assigned to the event.

FIS Timing Booklet-----------------
The FIS Timing Booklet is a part of the ICR and part of the FIS Rules. All
requirements of the ICR and the expanded references to technical
requirements for timing FIS events are indicated in this supplemental set
of rules. Like many aspects of the FIS rules, the ICR does not list ALL of
what is actually required. Like the specification details for Equipment,
Medical, the World Cup, etc the Timing Booklet spells out additional
requirements and provides a wealth of information that is essential to the
timing process.

You can find the FIS timing Booklet here:
http://www.fis-ski.com/data/document/timingbooklet-v2_42.pdf

Certification----------------------------
A reminder that the COT (Chief of Timing) and the assigned FIS TD must
attest to the accuracy of the data on each TTRF with signature. As it is
with the TD Report, no signatures and the race will not score.

Should you have any questions AFTER you have reviewed the FIS Timing
Booklet please contact either the USSA or ACA offices for further
assistance or direct contact with North American members of the FIS Timing
Working Group.

Sincerely

Ted Savage
FIS TD Commissioner for Canada

Please note the below item as provided by Ted Savage who tracks timing issues. Pay close attention to the problem with no homologated timing equipment and consequences of using such a system.

Homologated List of Timing Equipment (FIS) - Updated
There have been significant additions and corrections to the list of FIS
homologated timing equipment.
This new list is now posted on the FIS Website and I have added it to
nafistd.com under "new" items.
In particular relevance for north America:

- Added: New ALGE photocell PR1a
- Corrected: TAG PTB 606 timer now re-indicated alongside PTB 605
- Corrected: ALGE Start Gate STSnM2 now indicated as same as STSnM2S

Events using non-homologated timing equipment will go unnoticed.
After a rash of violations last season a zero-tolerance attitude is in
effect an will be dealt with by FIS Classifications.
Many TDs have been very vigilant and have provided much needed details into
these recent corrections and updates.
Well done by all.

FIS CODEX Numbers
There seems to be an authorized change afoot that allows FIS Codex numbers
for race GENDERS to be INTERCHANGEABLE. We will have to track this item

This is a new twist on an old problem and it may catch you as the TD if the
race software cant handle a Men's Codex for a Ladies race.

Software authors in CAN and USA have been advised. FIS may also change it's
mind on this item
