This was the final opportunity for riders to qualify for the World Championships and Olympic Games.

PST WiFi technology was off and running again. Spectators were encouraged to log on as well. A complete series CD was produced and distributed to over 50 teams after the event.

Hilda and George plugging away on the results and points scoring sheets. Track cycling has more complicated scoring than any other event we do. It requires two full time technicians to keep up with the hard copy and intra/internet posting.

And yes there is timing and scoring as well. Fred and Humberto keep Hilda hopping with an endless stream of data.

And here is Humberto, the only person I know who can handle three laptops at once for timing.

The Kazakstan team pursuit squad crashed in qualifying sending a rider onto the homestraight apron. The PST display rolled over as designed and no one was hurt.

Theo Bos of the Netherlands scored the fastest 200m time in Qualifying for the Sprints. The Veloresults system tracks and ranks the 100m intermediate times during the event. The announcer made good us of this exclusive feature.

Thanks to the J.C. Penny's store in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii for closing, my brother for having a good eye, and UPS for cheaply shipping me all that cool white Manfrotto hardware. -MG

I am looking for specifics on the white extension bar used for mounting the camera in the picture above. I am looking for a similar solution and could use a name or part number for the bar.

A few postings back, that one camera with the red shield over it, is that an Omega Electronics' one? Thought you guys always stick to Lynx?

The Dunc Gray velodrome has Omega cameras installed permanently, a legacy from the Olympics. That's one of many scams Omega runs to get rid of their older, obsolete stuff.

PST doesn't use Omega cameras for World Cup, of course. But the Omegas make excellent mounting bases for Lynx cameras. Tissot stickers also make excellent dust shields for Lynx cameras. Keeps the powder-coat looking fresh.

The interesting thing we discovered after the event was that nobody was actually operating the Omega camera. We could have removed it and replaced it afterwards. We left it installed because we thought the house technician was going to use it to back us up. The 5l300 camera is one of the 5000 fps units we have.
