I've just finished watching the 'Fleche Wallonne', recorded earlier from RTBF-SAT. They had an orange LED-matrix display on the finish gantry, between the clocks. It scrolled the winners names quite promptly after the finish.

It's the first time I've seen this done at a bike race, it was a very cool thing to do.

Any idea whose work I was admiring?

That should have been an Adaptive Alpha Display operated by MATSPORT. They are placing these displays in service this year for the ASO races. A good test for the 2007 TDF. Bruno (Bud) should write with more details.
