BMX became part of the Olympic family when the UCI decided to add it due the success of the X Games. The X Games are timed by an American company, Sports Media Technology using AMB transponders backed up by Finish Lynx cameras.

AMB (My Laps, Dutch) pushed and continues to push for use of transponders in BMX racing. They were involved many years before Swiss Timing got involved.

Swiss Timing flags their "order of finish" that is generated by the transponders "photo" when the result is close enough to need to be verified by the cameras. A very sensible approach.
"Photo Finish" does not indicate an order of finish but a very close result which has to be checked by photo finish camera for verification - unless this operation, no result will be published - even not a partial ranking


Swiss Timing is based in Switzerland which allows them to call themselves "Swiss Timing"
again - Swiss Timing is mainly based in Germany.


I'm really sorry, but until now I have seen no other company doing a super fast, precise and professional timing like those swiss/german guys. And this is not only my opinion - there is a big difference betwenn timing and life timing for TV, life-internet, instant result meeting the Olympic standards...
