Is there anything that must be changed in the TIMY to get it to recognize that the finish impulse is coming from there instead of the round multi-pin connector?

No. The inputs are paralleled inside the TIMY.
Pin 2 of the Din = Channel 1 banana plug Pin 1 of the Din = Channel 0 banana plug |
