There is a new program for the TIMY. It is called TRACKTIMER. This program is a simple net time program for Track or Swimming. You can plug 8 buttons into the TIMY with an adapter on the DB25 input. Each race can be started with the SM8 transducer, photocell or button. The net times for each button(lane) are printed on the tape.

Download the new software and the new installation utility at www.alge-timing.com

There are also more options for the printer and other improvements to the BACKUP and STOPWATCH programs.

Excerrent Qrestion Mr. Karnes. I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to that one myself.

The "auto-linefeed" parameter in the PRN Setup menu doesn't seem to have any effect.

Any suggestions, Fred?

Update to Timy went smooth with no crashes. Took all of 10 minutes, but sure was scary reading "erasing Flash". Maybe "preparing Timy" would be wiser words.

Still can't figure how to make the printer advance x lines after every printed line like on the S4 and other Alge devices. Any ideas?

I successfully updated the firmware in my Timy in about ten minutes. Pretty painless process.

ALGE has heretofore shown an astonishing level of incompetence in their Windows software, so I was somewhat stunned when it actually worked.

The ALGE Installation Manager (AutoRun.exe) crashed twice before it recognized my Timy.

When the process starts, the ominous message "ERASING FLASH" appears, which was scary in and of itself. The erasing process took about two minutes. Then the new firmware installed (with a groovy on-screen progress bar) in about another two minutes.

Nice job, ALGE. Sure beats the hell out of making The Fred mail out new chips to everyone.

There is a new program for the TIMY called "training" for automatated ski (or time trial) timing. We will be running simulations this coming week. New TIMYS are in stock.

Training:
Program for timing during the training. Very good functions for a easy operation e.g. in skiing. Two modes are working:

The programs count each run as a race. You deal with races rather than bib numbers. The programs make nice "Automatic" selftiming programs as well.

Count Impulse:
Input the amount of impulses until the finish. This means if you input 3 than it will take the start impulse (c0) and 3 further impulses, before it sets back to zero. It is also possible to input a maximum time. If this time is reached the time will be reset and the device is ready for the next starter (e.g. if somebody does not reach the finish).

C1-Finished:
An impulse from channel 1 (stop) will always stop the timing of a runner. This means you can use channel 2 to 8 as intermediate times. It is also possible to input a maximum time. If this time is reached the time will be reset and the device is ready for the next starter (e.g. if somebody does not reach the finish).

Reference-Mode:
This program is not programmed yet. It will have the same function as the Comet program Training.

The TIMY outputs the times to the GAZ display as normal.

The TIMY now has a simple lap timer program.

The program will track competitor number, start time, lap time, cumulative time, etc.
