The TIMY is the first ALGE timer to use a "standard" input for the external power. Radio Shack's "blue" adaptaplug works just fine in the power input socket located next to the USB port. The center of the adapter (tip) is positive and the shell is negative.

You can check the status of your external power by pressing the "2nd" key followed by the "drop down menu" (stack of pancakes). The upper right will read JA for yes and NEIN for no next to external power. Press "2nd" followed by "menu" again to exit.

The center of the INFO screen shows battery life next to Ua (Ua = 7.97 V)

You can also power the TIMY externally with a standard ALGE din plug cable with PIn 3 ground and Pin 4 12V +

Make sure that your TIMY has the rechargable batteries inside. Do not attempt to use external power with Alkalines. When in doubt, pull the batteries out altogether and look at them. European rechargables are called ACCUs

The TIMY can not be turned OFF while plugged into external power. It can be RESET for resync. Remove the power supply, Press "2nd" followed by the RED STOP and then the RED OK to shut down totally.

Radio Shack has a product that simplfies this. Buy the 270-1533 US/Euro 12v power adapter for 5 bucks. The 5.5 mm input is polarized correctly for the TIMY

The Mitey Mite is the best 12v power pack we have found for use with the TIMY. Use it with the Radio Shack 270-1533 cable.

PST stocks both items
