Tried our new Timy system for the first time yesterday in a High School Ski Race. Initially everything worked fine. I set the top headset down for a brief period. When I put the headset back on (two earpiece headset) We had no communications.
The start gate and finish gate still functioned. We replaced all batteries except those in the Timy, no help. We replaced the battery in the start gate also. We need to time a race on Sun. Jan. 9. What's the fix?

You have to discover where the issue lies. Can you hear yourself in the headset? If not the problem probably exists in the DIN plug connector that plugs into the start gate. Wiggle it around to see if there is a broken connection. The long cord starters headsets are more liable to have damage at the DIN plug end than normal headsets. The DIN plug is usually glued to help prevent damage if someone trips on the cord. Please try to find a replacement and send the unit back for warranty replacment.

This headset had a broken ground connection in the DIN connector. Resoldered and back in service. The long cable ALGE Q34 headsets are vulnerable to getting tripped over. Take care when you install them.
