Hi
I want to connect my Holux GR-213 cable GPS mouse to my timy. I made a cable to connect the RS-232 (RS-232 Level signal) RX andTX as well as GND and +5V I checked every Baudrate but I always get the no GPS Modem found message. Do I have to do something more to get my GPS mouse working with the Timy? Best regards Onki |

Your GPS puck will not work unless it has a Pulse per Second output. This is connected to C0 on the timy.
The unit you mention does not have a PPS output and will not work with a TIMY for GPS sync. This message has been edited. Last edited by: John, |

Rainer, John is right.
Furthermore, I must just warn you against "home made" syncro. Actually I must severely warn you about most of the low cost syncro solutions now available. Many GPS based solutions have proven to be failing. Some stages (car racing) have even been declared null. This is so bad that anyone understands how painful it can be. Please don't ask any name of brand which sells hardware failing the sync, I don't want to make negative advertising. Just be aware of the problem. In order to avoid surprises, it is better to rely on specific hardware for sync, if you want or need the perfect TOD. This is just a warning...don't try on your skin. Others did it and won't do it ever more. |
