Timy changed mode & lost sync prior to start

Last weekend, our Timy changed mode just before the start of the race and lost the sync. It was running in Backup mode on external power. I don't believe anyone did anything to it. Unfortunately, I did not make a note of the mode it switched to. Could this be caused by a loose power connection? Would the screen have gone blank if we lost both battery and external power. Any other ideas?

Having a TIMY spontaneously reboot is a very rare occurrence which is why there have not been any responses to this post so far.

The screen would go blank if your power supply and battery pack both failed at the same time. Very unlikely as the TIMY is designed to shut down in stages. Printer turns off first, then LCD, etc.

Check the individual cells in your battery pack for bad ones. Each cell should have at least 1.2 volts. Sometimes 2 or more cells out of a pack will fail that makes the entire battery pack suspect.

You did not mention the age of the TIMY or firmware being used.

I would reinstall and or upgrade the firmware to the latest version from 12-09

Split Second has the latest instruction sheet posted on how to do this.

Thanks. Firmware updated, batteries checked. Will keep an eye on it this weekend.
