I would like to drive the GAZ4 Display through a USB port without using a USB>Serial Cord. I know which USB wires are power and ground. Could I experiment with the two signal wires and ground or am I going to explode my computer?

USB >Serial adapters are reasonable in price and are a known solution. Feel free to potentially damage your PC if you want though. Please let us know how it turns out.

USB directly to the GAZ4 did not work. I was later told by our IT department that USB will not usually work over lengths greater than 8 feet.
