We are using an Alge GAz 4 board for the Track and field meet here.

How can I connect the Alge GAZ 4 with the computer when I only have one serial port and we are using the splitter to split for the button and the Track and field Software. Can I split the software side with one connector for the board and the other for the software ?

Thank you

Connect the display output to the serial connector on the Lynx "C" box. If not use a serial splitter adapter.

Into the COM 1 on PC (DB 9 Female)

Pin 5= to Pin 5 on DB 9 male (to connect COM 1 to)
Pin 4= to Pin 4 on DB 9 male (to connect Lynx capture button to)
Pin 3= to Pin 3 on DB 9 male ( to connect Com 1 to)
Pin 2= to Pin 2 on DB 9 male (to connect Com 1 to)
Pin 7= to Pin 7 on DB 9 male ( to connect Lynx Capture button to)
Pin 8= to Pin 8 on DB 9 male (to connect Lynx Capture button to)

In other words you are making a "Y" cable with a DB9 female that connects to the PC. That is then split into a COM1 extension using the normal Pin 2 input and Pin 3 output, Pin 5 ground. The other leg of the "Y" is and extension for the Lynx capture button.

Thank You Fred,

i made the Y spliter last year but we use the two side by the software (Hy-tek - Meet Manager) and the capture button.
So i'll try to use the C box serial, of buy another serial card (PCMCIA or USB) to put the display board on the Com 3

you could also just run Hytek to Lynx in "file sharing" mode where you will be transfering data over the network....since it will already be set up anyway.
in Hytek you would now need to hit Ctrl-U to update the evt files when changes are made in the Run menu.
