A couple of weeks ago had occasion to use an old S-3 to provide a time base for Split Second's software. I have usually used the scoreboard port for RS-232, leaving the printer port for the printer. I had marked the DIN plug for the right orientation, but unknown to me the tape had fallen off and someone had just put it back on without regard to direction. ( One orientation throws off just stopped time, the other counts up by seconds) What surprised me was that it would work for tests and would only fail once the buffer filled up ( about 15 minutes or so ). So my suggestion is - make real sure you're in the right way ( check the "View Raw Data" window), or just give up and plug the RS-232 into the printer port and the printer into the scoreboard.
