The S4 timer normally (default) sends data to PCs at 4800 baud, No parity, 8 start bits, 1 stop bit (4800,n,8,1). Users of the older Split Second (ussa) DOS programs had to force their S4s to 2400 baud in order to use displays with the same serial port. Sometimes this programming remains in the S4. Other users may have questions about how the S4 is behaving. The quickest way to solve these issues is to reset the timer to the factory settings.

Turn to Page 15of you manual, section 2.6, Set up of the options.

1) Hold yellow button down and the toggle switch up at the same time

2) Turn the S4 on

3) Release both

4) Select program by pressing the yellow button until the Program 3 appears. Press red/yellow together when correct.

5) Allow the timer to continue through the rest of the start up. Start the timer.

6) Press the delay switch down and watch the options scroll by. The Baud Rate # 3 must be 4800 to be correct.

7) You will now have to reprogram the "CLR.JA" prompt so that the timer will prompt you to flush the memory everytime you start it.

a) Turn the timer off

b) Hold the toggle switch up and turn timer on

c) release toggle once 8888888 appears

d) press toggle up once, CLR nein , appears

e) press yellow button once , CLR. JA, appears

f) press red/yellow together to save selection, Program 3 should now start

g) turn off timer, turn back on and the CLR. JA message should be present

h) Press red/yellow together and Program 3 should start
