Thanks to Fred for help solving the unbearable 60 cycle hum over the headsets when the computer was plugged in to the Alge TdC4000 timer. The headsets at the start, finish and timing room share a common ground with the start wand and finish photocells. When the desktop com1 serial port was connected to the Alge a loud hum nearly covered the voices from the start, finish,& timing room. The problem was solved by using an Alge Optodata box. The connector at the top of the box was connected to the com1 port of the PC and the bottom connector was attached to the data 2 output of the Alge TdC4000. Bib and race times were then automatically sent to the USSA v 2.06 scoring program and the hum was gone. Watch the plug orientation, we had to try several times before we got it right, however it does work.
