The S4 has a very useful Auto program ( program 7) that allows you to take starts and finishes and display them on the LCD screen and with a GAZ or D-line display.

The factory default settings will display the time for 5 seconds.

The factory default setting is for 2 timing points whereas we normally only use 1.

Turn to Page 17 of your manual, section 2.6, Set up of the options.

If you want to have to the original default set up of the options, then do the following:

- turn Timer S4 off (switch 17)
- press yellow button (7) down
- press toggle switch (8) upwards (position program+line test)
- turn Timer S4 on (switch 17)
- release yellow button (7) and toggle switch (8)
- choose program with the yellow button (7)
You can set the following options (depending on the program

PST clarification

1) Hold yellow button down and the toggle switch up at the same time. Sometimes you want a buddy to help. Otherwise clamp the S4 between your knees.

2) Turn the S4 on

3) Release both

4) Select program 7 by pressing the yellow button until the Program 7 appears. Press red/yellow together when correct.

5) Allow the timer to continue through the rest of the start up.

6)02 ---- appears.

7) Press the RED button 10 times until 01 ---- appears.

8) Press Red/Yellow together to save setting.

9) S4 is now set for a start from channel 0 banana plug or Pin 1 on "A" din and Finish on Pin 2 "A" din.

10) The timer will start, the 01 will go to 00, the finish time will record and display, the timer will reset after 5 seconds to 01 0:00.00

NOTE FOR S4 timers after 2003

The Default display setting can be as long as 35 seconds with an SLP 5.0

Change back down to 7 seconds by:

1) Turn timer on normally ending in 01 - - - -
2) Press "delay" toggle down 3 times to SLP 5.0
3) Press "red" button until 0.0 appears
4) Press "yellow" button until 0.9 appears
5) Press and hold red down and then yellow (both together) to save setting.

Remember that an SLP change here effects all other programs and you might have to deal with that again if the display duration is too short in the other program.
