The revision to the Timing Booklet states:

"The use of any electronic device (e.g. optocopler) between startgate and timer or photocell and timer must be specifically compatible and authorised by the manufacturers."

Does anyone know if there are formal authorizations from each of the timing equipment manufacturers?

For example is there any written authorization or formal confirmation from ALGE stating that it is OK to use a TAG or Blinkybox opto-isolators in conjunction with their specific equipment?

The Blinky Box opto-isolators have been through the F.I.S. timing working group and are approved by the manufacturer to work with Alge and Tag timers and devices. All 3 manufacturers are used on the current World Cup circuit with the different combination of timers from the major manufacturers.

There is some politics involved with making OPTO's Homoligated and not all of the Main Timing manufacturers are in agreement.

The Microgate REI2 timer has built in optocouplers for the 4 main channels. This is the only FIS homologated timer to offer this feature.
