RE: number of officials for CX races
I think we definitely need 5 or 6 officials, depending on
circumstance. To run with fewer would be impossible. At a minimum you
need the CR, at least one in the pit, and two judges, but two judges
will not cut it in a multiple event day. So, you need at least one
more, who may be able to float between judge/scorer/AR duties
depending on the need. Given that few CX races use transponders, and if they do use them, they rarely work for primary data collection, it is always up to the judges to get the results regardless of how they are later processed. That means for an international race, we should
always have 3 judges. I would say for a C2 then, we have a minimum of
5. For a C1, we should have 6.
The unknown factor is the course. Some courses beg for another referee
out and about, while others do not.
