Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on a teeny, tiny, itty, bitty glitch with Vista and SplitSecond (and it isn't really SST's fault.)

When my XP laptop's motherboard bit the dirt two weeks ago, I ordered up a new laptop sans serial and parallel ports with the new Vista OS. (Which, btw I DO like but it does hide or write protect just about EVERYTHING even if you are an admin user.) SO, LSS, plugged in the usb dongle into SST to install the drivers. All ok, (yes, I know you are changing my registry),chug, chug, chug, Installation complete and ok - oops! Lurking just behind the OK window is another window with an error "Installation incomplete: parclass error code 0x42c").

Emailed Geoff and then googled the error and found the manufacturer of the dongle. The manufacturer called me directly and explained that the particular installation tool that is encapsulated in SST installs both the parallel and the usb drivers. Since there is no parallel driver on my laptop, Vista nor the install tool in SST had any idea what to do. The folks at the dongle manufacturer sent me a newer install tool and I was off and running in less than 60 seconds.

They have added a link to their driver site, so I thought I'd pass it on to anyone who might be in the process of changing over sooner or later.

Just as an FYI, the next versions of Split Second will incorporate the new driver, so this shouldn't be an issue in the future. Also, the plan is to install the Key driver as part of the software installation, which should smooth a few things out too...
(oh, and this will get rid of those pesky error messages from the driver installation that I have to explain to everyone to ignore)
