The ALGE COMET is still a very good little time base for use with the Split Second software. The only issue is the need to get the impulses into the device. SST uses the following inputs:

Pin 1 signal, Pin 3 ground / DIN connector = Red Start or USSA start

Pin 2 signal, Pin 3 ground / DIN connector = Red Finish or USSA finish

Pin 6 signal, Pin 3 ground /DIN connector = Blue Start

Banana Plug input = Blue Finish

The COMET must be set:

STOPWATCH

Clear Memory

1000ths Precision

SPLIT

AUTOMATIC

30 seconds more than your course length

TIME OF DAY entered

"A" to start or banana plugs

The COMET should be connected to a SEIKO DPU 414 printer. The printer cable is parallel with the PC input and receives the same data (2400, N,8,1)

The printer will record the TOD splits. All the timing will be done live on the screen of the PC
