This question would be best discussed with Tom Winters and your assigned TD however I can tell you that FIS PGS events at Steamboat have done their finals with only one clock in the past. The races were scored.

Another wonderful application for photofinish. This really worked well at Park City for the 2002 Jeux Olympiques.

You need to find out what level of event you will be timing. If it's FIS, you need two clocks (two starts - independently wired) and two finishes (4 photocells) + the requisite number of hand timers.

Usually what I see when at FIS events is a common start wire, and two separate finishes. This is not FIS legal. You have to treat the dual almost like two separate race courses...

I ran a SnowBoard NORAM last winter and set it up much like I would an FIS race with dual S4's and 2 complete computers running DTRIS (but the parallel version).

It worked like a champ and was a dream to run. Snowboard does NOT do their final 8 (16 or 32) like Alpine does, you have to manually throw some people in the gate.

When it came to the final, I just had a single photocell on one course that told DTRIS that a racer was on course. This worked for both System A and B.

Well our TD made me do a timing and calc form--what a pain!!

Used SS ElderWare, new verson has a PGS option in it---very nice--doing a bibo for the second run was a bit tricky, but not hard.

For the finals, I used the new ski club with the differential timing option--worked great, but while 2 were on course, you couldn't put the next finishers in until the first pair finshed.

Yes you always do TTRF for FIS events, including freestyle.

Two timers, 4 photos cells at finish are a must for PGS, add a camera for backup is even better.

PGS Differential is good, have been using it for years in Dual MTB. Never two (pairs) on a course, but the courses are short, and you don't want to re-run pairs anyway. Always run completion.
