We were timing a hill climb bike race today in California. Happened to notice that the time of day was off on the time stamp on the start list. Changed it in Windows to pacific from eastern. Big oops! SST key decided that we were no longer legal and we lost timing enable. Of course the system came back once the "time" caught back up. 3 hours later meant that the pain of going in and out of demo timing lasted just too long. Won't do that again! Change time first before opening software. Exiting out of the software then changing would work too.

The computer time has to be changed before the software USB key is inserted into the computer when it is started. If you change the time to an earlier time while the software key is in the key thinks you are trying to extend your license. Just closing the software won't work.

If the computer is started with the software key inserted and it is removed then the time is changed to an earlier time and then inserted the software will only run in demo mode for approximately three hours.

The software key memory records the computer time.
I've changed time zones between Eastern and Mountain a number of times over the years with the key in and SST open and haven't seen any issues IIRC. According to the hardware key manufacturer, changing time zones shouldn't cause a date set back error. This is because the key converts the local time to GMT before it stores the time. See http://www.keylok.com/support/faq.aspx#24 for further explanation. However your hardware key may have older firmware that does not work like Keylok describes.
