I am just reassembling the Nastar/display set-up. It worked last year so it should work again, right? I have the dual displays (which are actually Alge-modified Split Second displays) and I can't get past where they say Alge. I have the same USB rig connected to my PC and my device manager says it's working. I have the right port (4) and I rebuilt the banana plugs. I tried both baud rates, though I think 2400 is the right one. The wheels on the displays say 2 and 4, which is how they were set last spring (it looks like that's what the software wants them on when you choose "Dual Alge 2/4"). They are connected with a jumper like last year (not with the big ports that say bib/time). I have power, too. Any suggestions?

Rotary dial setting will only accept data from either the S4 directly or the SS software with the setting of "ALGE" or single ALGE display. Baud rate is 2400.

There is of course another quick way to check to see if the display and the cable are ok. Reassign the display Com port to 1 and the timer port to "none" Then connect the Db9 connector and display cable to the native Com 1 port on the notebook. Make sure that the only device connected to the cable is the PC. DO NOT
connect the DIN connector to the S4 as well as the two devices will cancel each other out. Run the test pattern. If it still does not work check the cable for continuity. You have to go about the testing in a methodical manner to make sure you can id the problem component.

We have posted new information on the interfacing the NASTAR software with ALGE displays. I believe that the new NASTAR 3.0 software uses Rotary dial setting 1&2 for Red and Blue. Please confirm this with the recent November posting.
