This is a follow up on my previous (1/15/06)post about second run start order. With a few trials it seems to me that the second run start list is unaffected by sorting the results of the first run, such that the second run start list will be the same no matter how you sort the results of the first run. Is this correct?

This is correct. No matter how the competitors are sorted, if you select 2nd run start list from the reports menu is selected and viewed, it will sort by the competitors with the bibbo indicated on the header tab and USSA/FIS rules (ties etc.). However you do sort your racers, the autoload in timing will match.

Sorting:
The software will automatically sort reports into the order you need for the report.
If you ever need to get around this feature you can turn Auto sort off. Go to "Edit|Options" and you'll see a checkbox. If this is off it will ask you if you want to sort whenever it would sort automatically. This way you can create any report in any order you want. Be careful though, this may result in an incorrect report (not based on the NGB/FIS rules) or a very odd looking report.
Autoload in Timing:
What is meant by this is the order that competitors will 'automatically' be listed on the timing screen. So, when the first competitor starts, who is expected to start next. It's important to remember that when you start timing it will automatically load the next competitor based on the current order of competitors on the timing screen. If you create a 2nd run start right before timing the 2nd run, you'll probably have everyone in the expected order and almost never need to touch the computer.

Thanks for explaining "autoload on timing", Geoff. I had mistakenly been assumed during my first use of the software last weekend that the competitors would be loaded into the start based on their start number, not on the order in which they were currently displayed on the main screen. Knowing this will make everything go even more smoothly!

Geoff,

what is meant by the "current order of competitors on the timing screen"? Is this the same as the order of competitors on the competitors screen? Also, do you create a second run start mearly by clicking on second run start list, or do you have to save or print?
