Some of you have had the mysterious "Range Check Error" happen with Split Second Software, especially on Windows NT and 2000. This has driven me nuts for a while, but, finally I believe it's fixed...

There are new versions of USSA/FIS software and Club software available at http://www.SplitSecond.com. If you've had this problem with the Nastar software you can download an updated version from the 'Information for Resorts' page at Nastar.com (direct link is http://www.nastar.com/index.jsp?pagename=resortinfo)
look at the bottom of the page. The Nastar software will only install on a machine where the software for the current season has been installed off the original CD.

The error was related to how the connections to serial ports were handled and also because I'm now developing under W 2000 and the routines used weren't as backward compatible as I would have liked.

As always, feedback welcomed......

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

I've fixed the problem, but I want you to know that it exists.

When I tried to hit Page Down from the Competitor Insert/Edit screen. It would give me a "Range Check Error."

I found this post of yours from 2002 that said the problem had to do with serial ports.

I went into Setup and Test and set the Serial Port to None. Then I closed the software, reopened it, and the problem disappeared.

So, there is still a little glitch somewhere related to this.

Just FYI. I'm good for right now.
