I ordered a USB to serial adapter for our NASTAR notebook. What else do I need to do to connect 2 ALGE GAZ4 displays to the SS NASTAR software?

Mechanics for installing the ALGE displays with NASTAR/USSA Split Second
1) Purchase and install a second serial port; either USB or PCI card or PCMCIA card 2) Make sure it is recognized in DEVICE MANAGER I PROPERTIES I MY COMPUTER (right click) 3) Connect the first display with a DB9 female connector, Pin 5 ground, pin 3 signal, rotary dial on 0, toggle in the middle, turn on until A L G E appears 4) Start SS software and select SETUP TEST 5) At the bottom of the screen, select the serial port that you know to be valid from Device Manager, select ALGE for the scoreboard 6) Start test pattern, reverse polarity of the banana plugs if it does not work 7) Set this display on rotary # 2 and the second display on rotary # 4, turn off then on to reboot displays (they take much longer to show A L G E) 8) Select 2 ALGE displays in SS menu, and start test pattern 9) Connect second display with polarized banana plugs paralleled from the first display. Reverse polarity if it stops the displays 10) Displays will now show net finish times for both courses, label them and install |
