I am unable to get anything to receive communication through a USB to serial port adapter. The adapter worked for all of the 2008-2009 season with GAZ4 scoreboards and/or a Phoenix-B scoreboard. Since the beginning of December 2009 I have been unable to get the thing to work. Scoreboard works flawlessly when connected via serial port, and the TAG PTB605 works flawlessly when connected via serial. Neither will work using the USB-->serial adapter. I only have one serial port available on my timing computers. Any quick fixes or inexpensive alternatives out there?

Have you checked for updated drivers from the manufacturer? Does your device manager recognize that the adapter is connected? Is there a COM port conflict listed there? Other programs may grab the same COM port, like Bluetooth communication.

The driver is updated and current. The device manager recognizes the adapter. The COM port(s) appear to be free from conflict. The only other ports/usb connections being used are the timing dongle, and TAG 605.
