I recently found this little gem. Pretty much a manual system, but cheap enough for the little events out there.

There is only support for a chronomix timer.

It looks like it can time most events that use a fixed start time or wave start.

I have not tried to connect the timy in PC timer mode to see if it takes over fro the PC clock to give good accuracy.

I saw another program from New Zealand too. Looks very similar but does not seem to have had much attention since 2000.

Neither looks as refined or integrated as the programs James Broder writes but maybe a solution for the little event.
