I will have a race this winter season ( 2006-07 ) that I need to connect a Timy at the start to the finish line.
No radio signal, no cables. Too distant. The only way it appears to work is with GSM. TDC 8000 at start, Timy at finish line. We tried last year and it worked, but times were input by hand. I work with STOPWATCH program. I would like to enter the start time of day at the finish timer directly from the timer at the start. I’ve seen that at the Timy update xx.xx.2005 Version V0593, you can read : "GSM-MODEM": "STOPWATCH": You can connect 2 Timys with 2 gsm-modems. Only start- and finish-times are transmitted. No intemediate-, memo- and runtimes were transmitted. You can eidt, clear, unclear and disqualify start- and finish-times. In order that 2 Timys can exchange their times. "GSM-MODEM": "Each other program except STOPWATCH": You can connnect a Timy wirh a notebook with 2 gsm-modems. My question is if anybody has tried this and knows how it works. I wonder if connecting Timy with notebook ( gsm-modem ) will input start time of day into the software and TDC 8000 connected wit notebook ( serial ) will input finish time of day into the software. |

Albert Vetter from ALGE was at our office the other day. He says that the GSM system works quite well.
We use several different phone systems here in the US. PST uses a non GSM system called NEXTEL so we can't test this concept directly. I would contact Albert and he will tell you what you need to make this work. albert@alge-timing.com |
