Yes, serial data can be transmitted using the TED. Connect to the Yellow and black banana inputs instead of the green and black (used for pulse transmission). You should experiment first as some softwares require the continuous transmission option (program 6 I think). If you use continuous trans be prepared to eat up batteries. You can build a cable that will go from the 4 pin amphenol plug on the GAZ to the DIN plug on the TED RX. You can then feed the TED its power from your GAZ battery or power and send the signal all with one clean cable.

The only safe way to do this is using the "data transmission direct" option. (section 5.5 of manual) The only problem is that this eats batteries. We have made a wiring harness that works real well for this application. The data comes from the Microgate REI2 5 pin din (pin 1 signal, pin 5 ground) The data enters the TED TX on pin 6 of the 6 pin DIN. Pin 2 and 3 are jumped together to force continous data transmission. Pin 4 and 3 are then "y ed" to a PS-12 or similar power supply. This way the TED is powered by AC, the data is input and it is all done cleanly at the DIN plug. The data outputs from the RX receiver on Pin 6 of the DIN. Pin 4 is connected to the GAZ 12v + power and Pin 3 is ground. The GAZ end of the cable uses the 4 pole Amphenol connector( pin 1 =12v +, pin 2 = common ground, pin 4 = signal). This way the RX is powered by the GAZ. Both the TX and RX have the rotary dial furthest from the metal bar (12 in manual) set to position 6. Set up the wireless first and get it tested. The LED lamps on the TX and RX should remain solid green while this setting is used.

You can jump another display at either the TX or RX end of the system using the yellow and black banana plugs on the TED.

The GAZ is set on Program 0. The REI2 is set to ALGE running time display, 2400 baud, address 0
