It seems over the summer, the cable to the computer from a Tag Heuer to the serial has come up missing. If it is not found, we will either need to attempt to make up a new one (in which case some questions arise) or purchase a new one. This cable looks like it should have an RCA style plug into the back of this Tag Heuer CP505 and then going to a 9 pin female plug. Anyone have the recommended pin out for the serial port? Is the jack into the back if this Tag Heuer timer anything special or would a RCA jack in fact work?

We will look and see if we have a data cable in the 505 series box. I believe it is an 1/8 inch stereo plug not an RCA type that plugs into the timer.

It could very well be but the spare RCA plugs that were laying around for the sound system fit into the back of the Tag. can you check to see if you would have a cable too?

You can pick up one of these cables at most computer stores. It is a 1/8" stereo plug to Serial connector. An old digital camera cable will work. I got one with a $20 camera that worked just fine.

DG,

Thanks for the reply. After your suggestion (I am a computer dealer working with the resort, and also a regular racer too) I checked my junk and spare cables and think I found one just like this one:
EBay Item

Does that seem like the end to go into the Tag timer?

It's a 1/8 inch phone jack, available from any Radio Shack or you could cut one off any walkman headphone etc.

To make the rest of the cable it's connected to a 9 pin Female serial connector (also available from Radio Shack).
The tip of the phone jack connects to pin 2
The base of the phone jack connects to pin 5
And, pins 4 & 6 should be jumpered together.
