For those who care.....
There is no easy way, except when installing the software for the Optic to redirect the path for saving files. Like most programs that when you create a "document or in our case a Race" you can tell it where to save such file. Well if you go into the DOS prompt and enter (from Win xp the "Run" command from the start window) "regedit" you will see a bunch of things, but the one you are looking for is under the OPTIC. Here you will find lots of usefull things that should be in the software. Under one of the subheadings "list" you will find toward the right a subject called Work. This is the default path to save the files of the race. I just changed the path here to include my external hard drive and everything was WAY faster than my internal hard drive which was getting way to tight on space. I'm using a firewire 260 Gig external hard drive hooked directly to the back of the OPTIC controller. There are 3 firewire ports. I use one for the HD and another to the PC. My HD shows up as my E drive, through the OPTIC hub. Everything worked great! Another feature in the REGEDIT, is a setting for the COM port, and data rates for the export of the "list" of results in the software. I changed this to COM 1 and hooked up one of my many DPU printers set to 9600 baud and compressed 80 character columns and was great to hand to the officials the results quickly. There also seems to be a bug either in my computer or the latest release of the OPTI software that won't let the help PDF open with the F1 key. My computer can't find Acrobat to open the file (according to my computer) but it worked fine on all previous versions./??? Strange, but hey it is MS XP. |
