In the early days of our electronic timing, we used an IMHOF 2000 Video Timer, which had an integrated video printer.
We were prining those pictures on request and took 1 or 2 DM for them.

At one or two events, we tried to sell Lynx pictures, which were printed using an canon selphy CP 400.
But there were not many pictures requested.

The costs are about 50ct per picture + the printer, which one of us allready had.

We set up an addition notebook computer connected with the timing computers, but placed at the main spectator level.

For this, we needed another person, which had to know, how the lynx software is working...

20 years ago one timing company set up a printer for the photos at the largest High school championships in the Province. Charged $5.00 a black and white print and made enough money to pay for the computer, laser printer and pay the person doing the printing $20/hr (over 1000 prints). Five years later the same company tried the same thing and sold less than 50 prints.
We start selling photos in 2015 in Mexico.
Price is 150MXP (8.5 usd)
Just sell more o less 10-15 pictures on each race.
Now we offer putting custom text (like "to my best friend") hoping the customers get one.
We use a epson stylus L800.
The stress to print fast a photo when the next races are running result in more press to the operator, but, we in all case, need to take the pictures as part of timing.
