We are looking for a reasonably portable light that we can use for shooting poorly lit finishes with the FinishLynx Fusion. Any suggestions?

Go buy the Chinese made work light set from Sears Craftsman. You can get two lights with 2 levels and a tripod for about $65.00. Place them so that the light bounces off the numbers and then into the camera. 15 degrees prior to the line seems to work pretty good. Use big USCF type rainbow racing numbers and don't let the riders cut them down. You are relying on the white background to bounce the light back.

Use a lower brightness setting than you think is good.

Try using PAR 64 theatrical lights if you really want to get good pix. They need a lot of AC power though.

Believe it or not I have gotten really good pix bouncing light off a motorcycle onto the riders backs. I could not see the riders or their bikes but the ghostly numbers came out fine.

Who is using an extra light source for their finish line? We are looking at a PAR but I am not sure which one to get to make sure we have a good clean image.

We are interested in using PAR light(s) for some backlighting issues.
Found these links but do not have experience using them. Let me know what you find out. There appears to be different lamps from wide flood to very narrow beam...I assume if we shoot over the 2" finish line we will light up what ever goes past..??
