I do the photofinish at 2 small horse racing in rural Western Australia where power outages are not uncommon.
When the power cuts out it is posible to use small digital camera in movie mode.
I used a Olympus PE170 6mp 3x zoom.
Replay movie frame by frame and zoom in.
vcd res at 25 frames per sec.
Adequite but low quality.
Download onto laptop for better quality.
use Quicktime.

Here's a much more professional idea - either get a $50 battery backup (UPS) for your AC power, or run the Lynx on DC from a motorcycle battery (with a trickle charger) or from a golf cart.

The Lynx people will be happy to make you up a power plug with spade lugs if you want to run on DC.
